There’s going to be a time in your life when you will become infatuated with a single soul. For this person, you will do anything and not think twice about it. You might spend your whole time trying to figure out how a single person can affect you as much as they do, but you will get no answer. You will love this person with no regrets, you will look past their flaws, you will let your ego lose and that’s when love will win.
That’s the problem with us. We’re both stubborn and always want to get our way with things. We both hate to be wrong and love to be right. But that’s love. No matter what happens, we always come back for each other, one more time.
We don’t agree much. In fact, we don’t agree on anything. We fight and challenge each other all day. We are two completely different people with only one thing in common, the love we have to each other.
We fell in love despite our differences, and something beautiful and rare was created.
I remember, it was only the day that we had a big fight, and then your brother called you to announce you some bad news, that I finally understood what true love is.
True love is when you care for another person’s happiness more than your own. That day, I finally understood how unimportant and how small our fights were to the kind love that we had created. It was then that I understood how much I care about you.
True love is a fire that arises in our hearts. It can burn high enough and melt down all the separation, the pain, the ego and the negativity by making us realise how destructive our selfish habits could be and how much we value the person next to us. When we are responding from our pain and responding with our protective ego, forgiveness can feel impossible, almost superhuman, but love can burn away all the negativity and show us clearly what matters.
I promised I will always be next to you, through the good and the bad times. “Let me forever be your always” I whispered to you, while I fell into your arms. You smiled, and hugged me tight, while you whispered “I love you.”
You smiled because you knew that I had gotten over our unimportant fight. Love had won our ego and what really mattered at that time, was you and me. What still matters, is us.
Thank you for being yourself when you are with me, thank you for not wearing the mask that you always wear when you are around your friends and family, pretending that nothing is wrong. Thank you for opening your heart and soul to me, I will never let you down. Thank you for allowing your most vulnerable self to be deeply seen and known by me. Thank you for trusting me, and allowing me to pick up your broken heart’s pieces from the floor and try to reassemble it.
You will never be alone, you will always have me by your side through every disappointment, failure and weakness. I promise to be your strength when you feel weak, I promise to be your voice when you can’t find the words. I promise to love every side of you. Everyone loves strength, but I love you both for your strength and your weakness.
When the world feels dark and you feel alone, I’ll be there for you. When your tears fill your eyes and you start to break down, I’ll be there for you. When you want to give up and things get hard, I’ll be there for you. When you are weak, I will be strong for you.
This is my promise to you – that I will never leave you to fight your own battles by yourself.
Always remember, when you fall, I will be there to catch you.
I will be that person for you. I will forever be your always.
