This time at Pillowfights, the question of the week, and probably of a whole lifetime, is concerning how we are going to spend our summer nights. There were four options to choose from and we tried to cater to all your preferences: Romantic nights with cocktails and your significant other on an island, eternal clubbing and one night stands or just some rest that would be appreciated, because of work? Oh my, it is not really hard to choose, yet I suppose, hard to achieve, what you actually want.

Vacations in time of (financial) crisis are a rather difficult task. People keep working, sometimes in more than one position, at more than one job, in order to make a living or just to pay the bills. 25% of our readers are among them. Personal satisfaction, holidays and other “luxuries” aren’t priorities anymore. Since we have been sucked into this kind of schedule, we have to survive and we would appreciate every small chance for rest that occurs.

Despite the fact that life is hard, people keep dreaming and that’s good. At least, hope is not dead yet. Dreamers chose the cocktails with their significant others on an island as the ideal summer nights. And they did well, reaching a glorious 30%. It is the time of the year you are most apprehensive for -other than cozy Christmas together. When you are finally on the boat or the plane, swimming or sunbathing at a beach that you both like, or drinking that cocktail on a terrace while gazing at the Mediterranean, the Atlantic or the Pacific ocean, it is the dream of a lifetime coming true.

However, the true blast came from the choice “vacationing with friends”. 45% of our readers chose holidays with friends and wherever the summer breeze takes them. Honestly, only few things are compared to that. The perfect company for holidays is neither boyfriends and girlfriends, nor parents or pets. The one-million-dollar answer is friends. Freedom, fun, no obligations, no nagging, no have-to’s, no strict schedules to follow. Just taking a boat and going away. Actually, isn’t this what holidays are really for?

Spending the summer time as a lone wolf, or better as a predator aiming for one-night stands is an option, but not a prevailing one for our readers, since it was not voted at all (0%). “It’s a cruel summer, leaving me here on my own”. Ace of Base said it before us. However, when single during the summertime and with all your friends coupled or already participating in one of the aforementioned categories, you don’t really have many choices, other than staying alone in your living room, hugging the A/C unit, or starting a pub/club-crawl and hugging literally whatever you want.

What  I would have chosen? Well, that’s somehow difficult. What I would have chosen, or what I will actually do? Now you make me feel like the Expectation – Reality memes. I would certainly board on a random boat and live super-whatever-epic moments with my friends, but honestly, I see myself begging for a nap over a computer while working. Tough life, isn’t it really?
