There’s this saying – “never leave for tomorrow, something you can do today”. Nowadays, that has been rephrased and is commonly used as  “never do anything today if you can leave for tomorrow”. That’s said in a humorous way of course but usually in every joke there is a little piece of truth hidden.

A lot of people tend to prefer to put off things they want or they should do for some –other– day in the future. It’s not like they have a plan; it is just a way to avoid things. They avoid the difficulties they may find in their way, avoid breaking a habit, avoid getting hurt. But they don’t understand that this way they also avoid achieving, or succeeding at,  anything.

It’s completely normal for someone, who is thinking about starting something new, to feel afraid; especially if it is about a dream they are trying to make come true. It is always the fear of failure that holds you back. You want to be sure, to weigh all the possibilities before you make your move; and that’s okay, unless of course the result is to wait a little bit longer.

Let’s be realistic here. The odds will never be on your side. And even if they are, you can’t see that as long as you are on the outside of a situation. If you really want something, you should go and pursue it – now. Not in a week not tomorrow, not even later today. Start the exact moment you realize you really want whatever this new desire is. Use your passion and your excitement to get where you need to be.

It’s not about being reckless. There’s nothing wrong with preparing yourself in the best way that you can for success. But most of the times, the most valuable weapons you can get are hidden in the battlefield. Once you are looking at a situation from the inside, you can see things you could never observe from the outside. Things that will help you come one step closer to your goal, things that will make you wiser.

For better or worse, experience itself is the best way of learning. If you think about it, it’s worth the try, just for the experience, to begin with.

First of all, you will learn, beyond a doubt, what was meant to happen and you won’t be left with the question of ‘what would have happened?’ which is more torture than failure itself.

Furthermore, even if you fail to reach your final goal, you will have learnt so much about life, how things work, about your own self, you could use those as your best weapons to your next attempt for anything. That’s the most important thing anyway. To succeed, you must first fail; so you can learn. That’s life, that’s how things work and there is nothing wrong with failing; as long as you try to achieve what you want.

Last but not least, you can always succeed. And that would be the result of your work and your daredevilry.

Wouldn’t that be magical? To see something that starts with being just a thought, coming true just because you dared to try and you made it? That will be worth all the difficulties you came across to get there. And you will realize that you possibly wouldn’t even be there if it weren’t for those difficulties. Everything plays a role, and sometimes even difficulties are for the best. But you won’t know if you don’t try to do things yourself.

So, the next time you think you want something, just do it. Don’t weigh the possibilities, don’t question yourself, don’t hold back and definitely don’t wait for the right moment to come. Just go out there and watch the most miraculous thing happen – life itself.
